Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying or online bullying is a type of bullying that occurs online, it’s usually done by posting inappropriate videos and photos of someone or by making horrible comments over the internet. Sometimes bullies will take it as far as impersonating someone over the internet or making threats against their victims. The all point of cyberbullying is to make someone feel inferior, afraid, ashamed and most of all unhappy of being who he or she is. Since the internet and social media have become one of the most prominent places where this form of bullying happens, the victims are constantly tormented, and it seems that there is no end to it. Unfortunately, what even more heartbroken is that children develop depression, eating disorder, and in most cases, they commit suicide. The reason why I decided to talk about this particular topic its because it’s a subject that affect everyone, it the one area that no one can stop, and it is the one area that a lot of people just stand there and do nothing about it. Moreover, I feel like bullying children or anyone for that matter is extremely wrong and unethical because no one should be made fun of or judge for been himself or herself.

  1. Hi Andrea,
I do agree with you that cyberbullying is still a huge problem concerning our society and the role that media do have on it. Cyberbullying acts can be even seen in gaming, for instance by sending threatening or offensive messages to other players or even insulting them throughout the entire game. In some cases these apparently usual activities can transform into something more dangerous and have drastic consequences on the person who received these messages. Therefore such phenomenon needs to be stopped soon and further measrues and initiatives to avoid it should be conducted in order to have more positive and respectful society, who knows about the huge potential that media do have.
    Cheers,
    Alessandro

What an Expert Say 2

The article, Gender Differences inthe Association Between Cyberbullying Victimization and Perpetration: The Roleof Anger Rumination and Traditional Bullying Experiences, written by Zsila Ágnes, Urbán Róbert, Griffiths Mark D. and Demetrovics Zsolt looks at whether or not traditional bulling and cyberbullying had any affect s within the victim or the perpetrator. In order to understand better whether or not there was any relations, they took a survey of 1500 people both adults and teenagers, and ask them several questions regarding be ing bullied. Additionally , the researchers also wanted to see if there was any correlation between be ing bull ied at a young age and be ing a perpetrator later in life. The researchers were able to discover that cyberbully not only causes damages to someone mental and physical health, but it also turns the victim into perpetrator. Moreover, among the 1500 people who they survey, they note that a big percentage of male who were bullied at a young...

My View

G rowing up I was too a victim of bulling. However, when I was bullied, things were much different. Back then, I knew the people who were bulling me, todays it’s hard to know who the bullies are. Overnight, things change, our world has gone digital and ever since so has bulling. Today traditional or face to face bulling has taken a new name, cyberbullying.  Cyberbullying as I mentioned in my previous posts is a form of constant harassment and torture over the internet and social media. The victims are constantly harassed, made fun of, excluded, fat shamed and so much more.  Usually, the victims never know who the person behind the screen is because it has become easier to be anonymous.  Due to the constant abuse over the internet, children develop eating disorder, depression and anxiety. But what is even more painful, is to witness or hear stories of children who have self-harm themselves or taken their own lives in order to end such a suffering. According to Me...
